Additive Innovations Acquires the Assets of Culinary Printworks, Inc.
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, February 28, 2025 – Additive Innovations LLC (“Additive Innovations”) entered into an asset purchase agreement (the “Agreement”) with Culinary Printworks, Inc. (“CPW”) to acquire substantially all of the assets of CPW, including the 3D printing hardware and intellectual property associated with the former CPW Currant3D and SugarLab businesses. The 3D printing hardware associated with the former Currant3D business was originally developed by 3D Systems Inc. (NYSE: DDD) in 2015 as a food-grade binder jetting print technology which leveraged certain design elements from both its proprietary material jetting platform and the binder jetting platform of Z Corporation acquired in 2012. In total, through various operating companies, in excess of $30.0 million has been invested in developing this technology. The intellectual property acquired includes proprietary material formulations, designs and the assignment of patents from CPW associated with hardware design for food-grade production as well as process development of a food-grade output. Additive Innovations intends to use this combination of hardware and intellectual property in furthering its development and proliferation of binder jetting technologies and process development to market. This includes an expansion on the food-grade material set, to explore application development in additional verticals including pharmaceutical and nutraceutical grade materials, cosmetics, non-technical ceramics and circular economy materials.
